Our Community Impact

Junior League of Tyler volunteers are hard at work swinging hammers and pounds nails on this "all women build" home sponsored by the League. This is Habitat for Humanity of Smith County's 2008 Women Build and will be the future home of Lindsey Wall at 2020 Angeline Avenue.

The setting is Andy Woods Elementary. It is midweek of camp. The campers, 115 in total, are enjoying a hot lunch and chanting to the tune of Joan Jett's "I Love Rock n Roll" - "I love reading camp, Put another book in my book bag, lady; I love reading camp, Come on take the time and read with me!" Campers were invited from a record number of Tyler ISD schools this year; 13 in total.

It was a week of fun at the Texas Asthma Camp this summer. Junior League of Tyler volunteers helped educate the children on how to control their asthma problems, teaching them how to live a normal, happy life. Asthma can be very frightening to children and our volunteers helped alleviate those fears, giving them a life changing experience.

The St. Paul Children's Foundation held its Back-to-School Event in August. The Junior League of Tyler was instrumental in providing children of all ages with the supplies they need for a successful school year, including a school uniform.
The first Junior League of Tyler initiated Girl Power Summit was a huge success October 4, 2008! It was attended by 225 enthusiastic area sixth-graders.
